• To improve communication and disseminate information in regard to Merino sheep.
• To initiate the holding of conferences at regular intervals and to determine the location and host nation in each case.
• To establish and maintain a Secretariat for the purpose of achieving the objectives stated above.
Member countries feel the WFMB is serving a very valuable purpose in bringing them together every four years and at the same time exchanging information as it comes to hand by email and other correspondence, as well as via the newsletter Merino World. They are able to meet in friendship to make and maintain contact, compare their own particular environments and learn from each other. As well, they are able to keep up with trends and developments in the world wool and sheepmeat industries.
